I almost didn’t go to this location due to a negative review, however I did go and I am so glad I did. My experience was exceptional. I had a short wait time and every single person I interacted with was professional and courteous and caring. They diagnosed my medical condition and immediately gave me the medical support I needed. We are so fortunate to have this facility in Southpark. I needed to go to an ER for an xray. Atrium Main and Pineville are amazing facilities but I did not need to be admitted to a hospital, so Atrium Southpark was perfect. Highly recommended.

The overall care I received was excellent. I arrived in a lot of pain, and from the very beginning, I felt truly cared for. Nurse Larry, who handled my triage, was extremely professional, attentive, and thorough in his initial assessment. He made me feel safe and confident right away. When I was taken to room 12, I was welcomed by Nurse John, who was absolutely outstanding. He showed genuine compassion, took the time to explain every step of my care with patience and clarity, answered all my questions, and frequently checked in on me. His kindness and dedication made a huge difference in my experience. Dr. Caleb was also exceptional — very kind, patient, and attentive. He truly listened to me, understood my concerns, and acted quickly and effectively to relieve my pain. I felt I was in very capable hands. The CT scan technician, Jill, was equally wonderful. She was kind, reassuring, and made me feel comfortable throughout the procedure. Overall, this hospital deserves 5 stars. Every professional I encountered is not only highly skilled, but also a genuinely kind and compassionate human being. I am truly grateful for the care I received.

Terrible, dismissive care – extremely disappointing ER experience I had one of the worst healthcare experiences of my life at Atrium Health Emergency Room at SouthPark. I arrived mid-week around 10pm, and the ER was nearly empty — I was essentially the only patient there. Despite this, the level of care was shockingly poor. I was in significant pain, my blood pressure was very low, and my monitor kept alarming. I repeatedly called for a nurse, and no one came to check on me. I felt completely ignored while in a vulnerable and unsafe condition. The DO on call, Nina Shander, was dismissive and lacked basic compassion. I explained my symptoms clearly and also shared that I needed to leave by 5am due to a flight the next morning. Her response was cold and uncaring — she repeatedly said they would go “as fast as they could,” with no effort to communicate, reassure, or show empathy. The interaction felt rude and dehumanizing. What made this experience even more upsetting is that my husband had a similar experience at this same ER a few months ago — he was also dismissed and not taken seriously by the medical staff. This appears to be a pattern, not an isolated incident. The lack of responsiveness from nurses and the dismissive attitude from physicians is alarming for an emergency room. I left feeling embarrassed, unheard, and deeply disappointed. Mind you that i checked in around 10pm and wasnt seen by the doctor until around 11:45am, which is already ridiculous given i was in so much pain and its a ER. And no one was there!! This was crazy! I got out of the hospital it was almost 6am and only was able to get out because i said i was going to check myself out without them letting me because no one was there to care for me anyways. I even had to remove my own IV because no nurse could come see me. I would not recommend this ER to anyone seeking attentive or compassionate care.

This was one of the most frustrating and questionable billing experiences I’ve had with a hospital. I went to Atrium Health’s emergency department with severe back pain. After checking in, I was never placed in a room, never saw a doctor, and received no treatment. I was only briefly triaged (vital signs taken) and left due to prolonged waiting and worsening pain before any actual medical care was provided. Despite receiving no meaningful medical service, I was still charged for an ER visit (CPT 99281). Even more concerning, the billing amounts were inconsistent and kept changing. I was initially presented with different figures, and instead of clear, transparent billing, I received conflicting information and unclear explanations. Eventually, the charge was reduced with an uninsured discount, but I am still being billed $335 for an incomplete visit where no physician evaluation or treatment occurred. I did not sign consent forms, did not receive care, and did not complete the visit. Charging patients under these circumstances—and doing so with inconsistent and unclear pricing—raises serious concerns about transparency and billing practices. I have repeatedly requested a detailed explanation and fair resolution, but the process has been unnecessarily difficult and inconsistent. Patients should be extremely cautious: you may be charged significant amounts even if you never actually receive care, and the pricing you are given may not even be consistent.

The wait time was a little long, but it is a hospital, winter time in Charlotte, everyone has a cold and it is the ER. What do you expect? No complain complaints. The staff was very friendly, the security guards were very friendly and it seemed they enjoyed their job even at 3 in the morning. The ER doctor was very knowledgeable and had a great bedside manner, answered all our questions and sent the prescription straight to Walgreens, which is also open 24 hours less than two minutes away at South Park mall. I was there with my son.
