Rady Children's Mid-City (San Diego) Urgent Care

We had an outstanding experience today, as we do with all Rady’s experiences at other locations. We arrived at 1 and the first nurse was so wonderful, empathetic, and swiftly got us in the system. We checked in at front desk with insurance and patient info. Once in the medical room, all the nurses and doctors were amazing. They listen to our concerns, ordered testing, and thoroughly explained next steps and testing results. We felt their love and care while my kid was miserable and I was feeling stressed. I was really impressed and appreciated how caring and wonderful the entire team is. We got great care.

I was there in September 2025. My son have had fever for days. His primary Dr. only had oppenings for the next day, so I decided to take him to Urgent Care. Never had an appt so quickly like this one. Dismissive. Dr said that 101°, 102° is not considered fever, only 104°. Then prescribed some saline to clean his nostrils and that's it. Not a single test. I asked if he was good to go back to school, she said yes, but I was not crazy to send my sick child that way. The following day I took him to his primary Dr. Did all the tests he could, and prescribed an antibiotic.

Md. Chantal Mendes is horrible. I've seen various complaints about this doctor on here. I've never had a bad experience here until today! Very dismissive for all concerns I had for my 3 year old. Don't feel like going into detail, I have a migraine just thinking about the wasted time here for no help at. If you can, request any doctor but this one!!

I would think the name Radys Children’s would be good with everything I hear about them and what they do with kids. However, my experience was not like that with them and I would not bring my child back to Rady’s Urgent Care. Maybe the hospital is good but the Urgent care has been a horrible experience. I would take them to any other urgent care available before going back there. There are other posts on here that are spot on correct. They charge unsuspecting parents emergency room prices for an urgent care visit.

Beware! The care was good but they charge you emergency room prices. $2900 before insurance for a sprained ankle, and still $1300 after insurance worked it down! I chose an urgent care because I thought it would be cheaper but apparently they still take advantage of unsuspecting parents seeking after hours care…
