Ana Coop 2 months agoI wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone involved in my care during my surgery with Dr. Jossart. From the moment I arrived, every single person made such a positive impact on my experience. Thank you to the security staff for the warm and reassuring welcome, the admissions team for making check-in smooth and easy, the incredible pre-op staff for helping calm my nerves, the surgery team for the amazing care and professionalism, the recovery room staff for being so attentive and compassionate, and the wonderful nurses and staff on the 6th floor for continuing that exceptional care during my stay. Every person I encountered treated me with kindness, patience, and genuine compassion. Because of all of you, what could have been a very stressful experience became a pleasant and comforting one. I truly feel that I am healing so well because of the outstanding care I received from your entire team. Thank you all so much for everything you do. I cannot thank you enough for the support, professionalism, and compassion you showed me throughout this journey. It meant more to me than words can express.
Miranda Guo 2 months agoI’m a 40-week+ pregnant patient scheduled for induction at CPMC Van Ness, and I’ve experienced a complete breakdown in patient communication and coordination over the course of nearly a week. I was told someone would reach out on Thursday to confirm my induction. No one called. I waited Friday — again, no one called. I had to chase the hospital myself, calling multiple different numbers to figure out what was happening. When I finally got through, one nurse told me I could come in. A different nurse told me I couldn’t. I was originally scheduled for induction Friday, then told to come Saturday. On Saturday, one nurse told me I was #1 on the on-call list. Thirty minutes later, a different nurse told me not to come in at all that day. When I pushed back and said I wanted to remain on the schedule, she said “that’s all I needed to hear” — making clear the plan had been to quietly remove me unless I advocated for myself. I went to the hospital in person to seek clarity and was told it was a “miscommunication” and that they were “very busy.” No single point of contact was provided. Conflicting information continued from multiple nurses across multiple shifts. When I later reported decreased fetal movement, I was not advised to come in for monitoring. I was told to drink something sugary and wait for a doctor’s call (never came). At 40+ weeks gestation, decreased fetal movement warrants an NST, not a beverage suggestion. I was the one chasing them while 40 weeks+ pregnant. Patients near full term should not have to repeatedly call, advocate, and physically show up just to get a straight answer about their own induction. The nurses themselves were not unkind, but the system around them is broken. I am now considering transferring to another Sutter facility for delivery. I expect better from CPMC.

Gail Litzler 4 months agoMy daughter’s father was admitted to this hospital for cancer and found out it was pancreatic cancer. They can’t take the tumor out because it was too close to a vein. His kidneys were not functioning well so they said he needed a feeding tube to put nutrients to the kidneys. The bile duct had blockages so they had a stint in but replaced it with a medal tube at the same time. Also had an Endoscopy at the same time. So the patient had extreme constipation and finally had to have an enema. Then he had severe diarrhea. They stopped the feeding tube. All this time the patient is not getting any food except from his IV. Our family member was transported to another hospital even before he was stable! This hospital does not do anything for chemotherapy which is what he will eventually need to shrink the tumor. This hospital found that the feeding tube that was put in by CPMC Van Ness had been wrapped around in his stomach and we were told it was to be in his intestines!! So they pulled it out. Now this new hospital says he can eat on his own and they pulled him off the feeding tube altogether! Then they said to take him home. What a complete mess! He’s exactly where he started from. With no medicine, can’t eat, very weak and no appetite or energy. And he has cancer not being treated for. Your hospital CPMC let this man leave without the medical care needed to survive. Shame on you all!!!
