Jake Spencer Hammel 8 months agoI went to UCSF Bayfront Urgent Care and had a really pleasant experience on site. The facility is clean and modern, and every staff member I interacted with was kind, professional, and accommodating. Parking was tough, but that was due to a local event happening nearby—not their fault. Where things fell apart was the follow-up. I was told I’d get a call with my results, and while they did check in a couple of days later to see how I was feeling, no one ever followed through on actually reviewing my test results with me. I called multiple times over the next few weeks and kept being told someone would reach out, but no one ever did. I eventually had to send the results to my primary care doctor to review because I couldn’t get anyone at UCSF to respond. It felt like they completely dropped the ball on patient care after the visit. One other frustration: I was charged two separate copays—one for the urgent care visit and another for the lab work done during the same appointment in the same building. That didn’t feel right and wasn’t clearly explained. Overall, the in-person experience was excellent, but the lack of follow-up and communication afterward was really disappointing. As a patient all I want to do is be seen and heard, and while they were great on-site, they failed me afterwards and left me abandoned.
SO S 5 months agoI went in with a cold only looking for cough syrup that my UCSF primary doctor prescribed to me in 2015 which woud help me sleep. The doctor pushed a covid and flu test even though that's not what I came in for. I wasn't thinking straight so I said yes. The bill came and a covid test is $780 a test I had free at home. On top of that, I didn't have covid or flu and he gave me a crappy cough syrup that made it impossible to sleep and cough more. I generally love UCSF. This is my worst experience I have had at UCSF and I have been going there since birth. I have great health insurance. I thought urgent care would be cheaper than the ER it wasn't. Only go if it's an emergency.I will never go back here.
Jessica B 5 months agoHave visited a few times over the last two years (sadly for me) but they are always running on time or close and I’ve been able to make a same-day appt. Also, they are friendly, its clean, and very easy to walk across the hall and get meds after too. Great follow up care as well. Soooo much better than any other urgent care I’ve ever been to!
Kaitlyn L 6 months agoDo NOT come to this urgent care. This is falsely advertised as an urgent care, when in reality you will be faced with ER/hospital-level charges. Why? Because although the clinic looks and operates like an urgent care, it is physically located on hospital property, which means it is billed as a hospital outpatient department (HOPD) instead of a true urgent care. That automatically triggers facility fees and drastically higher rates, even for extremely basic visits. You will be charged 10x the normal urgent care visit here, upwards in the thousands. I've worked in the ER/medical billing, so I understand exactly what these codes and structures mean. The way this clinic is marketed to patients does not match how it is billed behind the scenes, and most people would have no idea they’re stepping into a hospital-based billing system just by walking into a place labeled “urgent care.” If you expect normal urgent care pricing, do not come here. The signage and branding make it appear like a typical community urgent care, but the billing practices are those of a hospital outpatient department - and the charges reflect that. Do NOT make the same mistake I did.
Alex Janssen 2 months agoIncredibly scammy billing for urgent care. Knew this going in, they were the only provider I knew to do a specialized test, but go to Carbon or elsewhere if you can.
