I was surprised to see the negative reviews for this clinic. I have been a patient here on four different occasions, and have received excellent care each time. During my most recent visit, there was almost no wait time on a Wednesday afternoon when I walked in without an appointment. I was fortunate that Dr My Mark was on duty. She did an excellent job diagnosing my problem, ordering x-rays (done on site but transmitted to NM radiology for analysis), taking a swab for a lab culture, prescribing the correct medicines, and referring me to a specialist. The NM hospital lab confirmed that I had a bad staph infection. I had not realized how serious my problem was. A big thank you to Dr My Mark for her care and expertise -- I might have ended up in the ER without her intervention. Also a big shout-out to her kind x-ray technician, and to nurse assistant Taneesha for creatively bandaging my wound with cast gauze and paper tape. All the staff were friendly and professional and helpful. I would recommend this Immediate Care center to anyone, but especially to NM patients, as this clinic can access your records online and send your data to NM hospital staff for further analysis.

I went to this Northwestern Immediate Care location in Chicago strictly for routine blood work as part of my annual exam. This visit was only for a blood draw. There was no consultation, no exam, and I did not see or speak with any doctor at that location. Despite this, a “doctor’s visit” was billed at nearly $700. After insurance, I was still charged $321 out of pocket for a visit that never happened. I had to call several times and got only impolite responses saying that the bill was correct, although I was charged for a visit which never happened. Fortunately my primary care doctor, who is based at a different Northwestern location, helped escalate the issue, and their office manager was able to get the charge corrected. I appreciate their help in resolving it. However, the incorrect charge originated from the Immediate Care location itself, which is very concerning. Patients should not be billed for services they did not receive. Because of this experience, I would not return to this location and would not recommend it to others. This is not my first experience with Northwestern Medicine facilities charging for services I did not receive or billing twice for the same service. If it were not for my doctor-who is truly exceptional, takes time with patients, and provides outstanding care-I would avoid Northwestern altogether. Stay away and avoid problems.

Great experience. I think medical centers like urgent care often get a disproportionate amount of bad reviews, since many good encounter don’t leave reviews. I saw Dr Mark and was very pleased at the efficiency, kindness, and professionalism of her and the front desk and nursing staff. I spent hardly an hour and had lab work, exam, and treatment completed (granted the morning of a weekday). Would recommend and would return should the need arise

Was refused care at first because I didn't have a passport or driver's license, which is quite literally ILLEGAL. Most Americans don't have a passport... A nurse took my pressure and temp, then a physicians assistant came in and wanted to take care of my consult. Which can I remind you these people are NOT actual doctors? I asked her if she was going to be seeing me to day which she said yes, but when I asked if there was a doctor available she went: WE TAKE PATIENTS AT THE SAME TIME FOR THE SAME REASONS. Uh, no. Girlie, you're not a doctor. Refused to be seen by this girl and she left with an attitude, slammed the door and told me to wait. Then actually got seen by A REAL DOCTOR. Staff was rude and dismissive except for the actual healthcare professional there, the doctor. Lol.

We've come here many times over the last few years..it has been a hit or miss. But today's experience is worth sharing. I was really trying to hold back my anger. I checked myself and my 14-month old in because we had been sick, along with my husband and our 5-year old. The 5-year old started a mini Influenza A pandemic confined within the walls of our condo; it has been quite brutal. The baby was doing better a few days ago but he regressed and developed more/new symptoms including a persistent cough; I was dealing with a similar cough myself. So, we ended up coming here before all modern life shut down for Christmas. The nurse, who was courteous, attempted to take my baby's oral temperature with a standard oral thermometer. The baby started screaming and crying, so I asked for an "over-the-forehead " or "temporal" thermometer instead, to which she replied they did not have one. I asked how they took temperature readings of 6-month olds since I was told the clinic could see 6mo and up. She replied that they did with the same oral thermometer and furthermore continued to convince me how this was standard and was suitable for babies. In the end, no reading was taken, because my little one would not cooperate. Anyone NOT shocked, raise your hand! I'd like to remind, this was a SICK visit, so knowing whether the baby had a fever or not may have been important for assessing current health/treatment, etcetera. I have two children who have been going almost exclusively to Lurie Children's for years and never ever have I seen anyone attempt to take a baby's oral temperature! How do you make a baby hold a thermometer underneath the tongue? And even if you do, is that really a reliable reading? I've searched on the Internet and for the life of me cannot find that the AAP recommends oral temperature readings for this age group. I am considering filing a formal inquiry. In my personal experience with NWM, sometimes this hospital and its staff just do and say whatever they please without evidentiary support.
