Visited this children’s urgent care for the first time today(Sunday) and was very impressed with the care we received. The wait was not long(1pm), the entire staff was friendly and Dr. Amy Levine was fantastic. She was very nice to my child, thorough in her exam and with explaining the diagnosis, xray and after care. Very impressed with this practice and would recommend them. Dr. Levine was friendly, professional and has excellent rapport with children. You don’t see many physicians with this kind of care these days.

I hate to write a poor review because our first experience here was great but our experience last week was not and we will not be coming back. I brought my 1 year old daughter in last week for a high fever and lethargy. Her fever had spiked pretty high after hours so we brought her since our pediatrician's office was closed. The nurses were wonderful. The doctor came in briefly took a look at our daughter, stated that her ears were clear and she otherwise looked fine but suggested we do a test for RSV, Covid, and the Flu which we agreed to. She then proceeds to recommend a urine sample because she was concerned about a possible UTI. She said the only way they do a urine sample was through a catheter. I shared my concerns of putting a catheter in my one year old as I know that could be extremely traumatic asked if there were other options. She continued to push for this. Since it was going to be a few hours before the results for flu, covid, and RSV came back I opted to not do the catheter, and wait to see the results before putting her through unnecessary trauma. I had texted my friend who is a pediatric doctor at a hospital and she agreed that a catheter before having those results seemed extreme. Fast forward, the results of covid, RSV, and flu all came back a few hours later negative and my daughter woke up the next day still with a high fever and lethargy. We took her to our pediatrician whom we love and told them what urgent care stated about the urine tests and the negative RSV, Covid, and Flu tests. At this point we were worried that maybe the urgent care doctor was right and that maybe she did have a UTI. They let us know that instead of a catheter we could do a urine bag which is painless but does not always provide a clear sample. We decided to move forward with the pee bag. The pediatrician then went about her basic exam and when looking in the left ear of my daughter noticed a lot of wax build up which prevented her to see down the canal. She removed the wax and then said she had a terrible ear infection with pus and that it was swollen. When we shared that we took her to urgent care the previous day and they said her ears were fine our pediatrician stated "they must not have looked very hard." She couldn't believe that they missed that and then proceeded to push a catheter. Not only did my daughter not get the medicine and help she needed from the visit, a very basic diagnosis was missed. Had we not refused the catheter our daughter would have gone through an invasive experience that was completely avoidable had the urgent care doctor taken the time to look thoroughly at our daughter's ears. We will not be coming back and hope that the doctor in the future does a more thorough job before putting other kids through completely avoidable experiences.

I brought my daughter to this urgent care because she has been coughing constantly, has a runny nose, an elevated temperature, heavy breathing, and an ear infection. This visit was recommended by a nurse, but all the staff did was check her vitals and breathing. They didn’t run any tests or provide further evaluation, which left me feeling like they didn’t fully address her health concerns. I also think the lady at the front desk needs more professional training. She asked me a question and then interrupted me in the middle of answering it. Everyone at the facility could improve their communication and quality of care. I do not recommend sending your child here.

We made an “appointment” on the website where it clearly says “reserve my spot.” After showing up early, we were informed that it is walk in only, at least an hour long wait, and they don’t take appointments, despite what the website says. The receptionist was at least very apologetic. We immediately left rather than risk getting sick in the waiting room. We’ve now wasted a lot of gas driving 30min from home to one of the only kids urgent cares that takes our insurance. I expected a lot more from the UNC system. Extremely frustrating!

Absolute nightmare of an experience with Dr. Rebecca Matthews. Brought our son in for an ear ache and Dr. Matthews was convinced that he had a foreign body in the ear canal despite my son and wife stating otherwise. My son came into the visit trusting and cooperative, and she proceeded to pin his head to the table and dig into his ear while he screamed in pain. The "foreign" material she found was his own ear canal tissue, which she further damaged. She made the pain far worse and we ended up having to follow up with a specialist to get care for the damage she did. That follow up care was further complicated by the trauma our son experienced with Dr. Matthews, as now he was absolutely terrified of having the doctor look in his ear and he didn't trust them when they said it wouldn't be painful. I can't speak to the other doctors/staff at this facility, but would recommend any parents avoid Dr. Matthews, who showed no remorse for how the visit was handled and was happy to still charge us hundreds for tbe privilege of having her make the problem far worse.
