I was admitted to Virginia Beach General post left knee replacement with Dr. Lambert and his wonderful team. While in recovery I needed to use the toilet. The first option that the nurse used didn’t work so he agreed to allow me to use the portable toilet to relieve myself which was a welcome relief. I had an outstanding experience as a patient from admission to discharge. The care team staff on 3 rd floor work well together in providing wonderful care. I liked the way they kept me informed of what procedures they were performing and identified themselves by name and practice. The food staff were also very helpful. I also enjoyed the virtual check out.

I love Sentara, but Sentara Va Beach General is a step above! Best Hospital in the Tidewater area! We live in Great Bridge in Chesapeake, so it is a 45 minute drive from my home. My husband came every day to visit (45 minutes each way). Fortunately, my sister lives at the beach. My mom lives across the street at Discovery Commons retirement , rehabilitation and nursing home! They both made frequent visits! Family is important when you’re ill! The care is excellent I enjoyed my stay , the food, the service, PT , OT and the environment! I should have taken pictures but most people don’t feel up to that!

I’m a complicated case so good to know everyone on the health team has alerts for me and makes sure all meds and issues are checked repeatedly. Pre-surgery labs and call was easy. Surgery day was uneventful. The nurses and anesthesiologist assigned to my case were kind, listened, and made me feel at ease.

If I could just rate the staff in the back, the bloodwork, and the registration staff (not the ones by the tablet) I would give 5 stars. We come to the hospital for assistance and the actual care team was awesome. Especially the lady who administers the medication. Made my gf feel better and smile throughout her sickly long day. And the lady at the front desk I appreciate you. You might not think your kindness doesn’t go a long way but it does. Thank you.

Every one here is so dedicated to providing the best of care. Im so thankful for the quality of care that was provided. I do have one suggestion. The emergency room security staff who check our belongings in at the metal detector need more sensitivity to what patients are going through. I checked in on Tues nite. Im a 90lb bald lady who obviously has cancer. I was having a true emergency w my health The guy checking my tiny old lady purse spent 20 minutes going through it w a flash light etc. Im an old lady w cancer and I needed to b seen ASAP. I obviously did not have a gun or bombIt was unnecessary what he did. If he feels the need to check an old lady purse that thoroughly maybe he should go work for TSA.
